POCO X2 began making a mark in the Indian market with 120Hz display

POCO made their fans wait almost one and a half year before launching their second phone POCO X2. Though all were expecting it will be named something like F2 or some random letter with suffix 1, but nobody expected it will be X2. One logical reason behind this naming theory might be this phone launched to compete with X2 of Realme. Being arrived after a long, let’s see what this phone has to offer.

Physical Overview:

On top, it has a secondary noise cancellation microphone and IR(Infra Red)Blaster. IR blaster is a useful feature through which you can use your mobile as remote for various equipment like AC, TV etc.

On the right, it has volume rockers and Power On/Off button. This differently designed power on/off button also has a Fingerprint scanner within it. Poco managed to place this button pretty accurately. So whenever you take out the phone from pocket or check the phone, your finger naturally lend on this scanner giving you quick access.

At the bottom it has 3.5mm headphone jack, besides that Type C charger port, then comes main microphone and speaker grills.

On the left, it has a Hybrid sim slot. I wished instead of Hybrid they should have gone for a dedicated micro SD Sim tray.

On the back, it has quad camera setup. This phone has got Gorilla glass on front as well as back. Though back cover is attractive, it is sort of fingerprint magnet. So advisable to use back cover.

On the front side, it has 6.67 inches FHD+ screen with punch hole dual camera placed on the top right corner.

POCO X2 comes with 6.67 inches Full HD+ IPS LCD screen, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The most highlighted feature of this phone is its 120Hz refresh rate feature, which is mostly seen in premium smartphones. 120Hz frame rate provides smoothest UI experience. However, there is an option for lowering the refresh rate to 60Hz if needed.

This phone handles high-end games smoothly, without any lag or heating issue, thanks to liquid cooling technology in this phone.

Since POCO X2 has LCD screen you can notice slight colour bleeding near the front camera punch hole design. This wouldn’t have been the case if it was AMOLED display, but that’s a minute detail which doesn’t affect anyways in its performance.

Quick Tip: While setting the phone disable the ads, location and info etc notifications. Otherwise, it will keep popping in your phone unnecessarily.

POCO X2 comes with 4500 mAh battery which can last for a long time. But if you are using the phone with 120Hz refresh rate for playing games or video, then you will notice power consumption is much more and battery getting drain at a much faster rate. This phone also supports fast charging. It comes with 27w fast charger, it takes about 24 min to charge the battery from 10-50% and 70 min for full charging.

POCO X2 comes with 4 rear camera setup. This all 4 cameras are aligned vertically at the centre. In the front, it has dual cameras, aligned horizontally at the right top corner.

  • Rear camera details:
    • 64 MP with Sony IMX 686 sensor
    • 8 MP (Ultra Wide)
    • 2 MP (Macro)
    • 2 MP (Depth)
  • Front Camera details:
    • 20 MP with 2.2 aperture
    • 2 MP (Depth)

The highlighted feature of the rear camera is a Sony IMX 686 sensor. This phone can record videos in 4K at 30 fps(Frames Per Second) through the front and rear camera too. Even though OIS(Optical Image Stabilization) is absent in this phone, yet it manages to record with reasonable stabilization.

The picture quality of POCO X2 is great with crisp detailing, well exposed images, good colour accuracy and overall colours looks natural. Photos taken during the daylight or in proper lighting condition looks better than in low lights. In low lighting condition image quality drops.

Ads and Bloatware in the UI.

Concluding words:

Ater POCO F1, expectations were high about its successor. It was slightly disappointing from POCO, but then this phone is offering some unique and strong specifications, which no other smartphones in the same price range are providing. Overall performance and battery life are exceptional. Its great value for money.
